Upon graduation from Qingdao Medical University of China in 1982., Prof. Xu completed thesis in which he broke the traditional constrain of keeping the wound dry to form scars and scientifically established a fire-new burn physiological theory and method, which is the invention of Moist Exposed Burn Therapy / Moist Exposed Burn Ointment (MEBT/MEBO).

With this invention, four major difficulties in burn treatment including pain, infection, deep II-degree burns cured with scar and the progressive necrosis of burn tissues have been solved, which directly results in the enhancement of total cure rate for extensive deep burns (TBSA>90%) from 5.7% to 92%.

Up to now, MEBT/MEBO has been formally entered 23 countries and help thousands of burn patients heal without scars. His scientific achievements have won 7 US patents, 2 Europe patents, 2 Japan patents, 3 China patents.

On August 16, 1988, Prof. Xu released MEBT/MEBO to domestic and overseas media through press conference.

In 1989, Prof. Xu delivered an article of discovering a kind of active cells in skin that could heal deep burns wounds without scars when treating burns with a botanic drug—MEBO, which caused tremendous response in science circle all over the world. Prof. Xu named it regenerative cells.

In 1990, U.S. News Week reported U.S. president Bush wrote to the Minister of Health of P.R.C. through officials expressing their deep concern about MEBT/MEBO.

In October1990, when a gas explosion happened in Bangkok, Thailand, Prof. Xu was assigned by Chinese Government to treat the burn patients there with his MEBT/MEBO. His great success in saving burn patients won him good reputation; the King of Thailand highly praised his contribution as 'the best doctors with the best technique achieved the best medical effects'.

On May 2, 1993, Harry J. Gaynor, president & founder of National Burn Victim Foundation, made a special trip to Beijing to grant Humanitarian Award to Prof. Rong Xiang Xu.

In August 2000, the International Stem Cell Research Web reported about skin tissue culture into Keratin 19 stem cells researched by Prof. Rong Xiang Xu.

In August of 2000, his elaborate research of in-situ regenerative clone of skin organ with skin stem cells was reported in Chinese and English serials in the 3rd issue of Chinese Burns, Wounds & Surface Ulcers Magazine.

In August 2000, The Blue Book for Burns Medical Technique, authored by Prof. Rong Xiang Xu, detailing the mechanism and clinical application technique of the in-situ skin organ regeneration with the residual skin tissue cells.

In February 2001, Prof. Xu delivered a special-topic academic report of induction of stem cells from tissue cells and finally into all kinds of tissue organs on the American Hawaii International Conference.

In 2001, Prof. Xu submitted patent platform registration in US, Europe, Japan and China on in-vitro and in-vivo culture of tissue cells into stem cells and finally into tissue organs. After the legal release of the patents, the research documents were published on the website of the national patent bureau in each of these countries and thus the copyright of it was gained.

In August 2002, Prof. Xu announced to the world the research results of tissue organ clone with tissue cells in China and made the commitment to finish the research of 206 tissue organs clones and tumor cell line controlling and transformation in another 5 years. The Ministry of Science and Technology of P.R.C. held a professional hearing conference together with the special interview by Science magazine.

In October 9, 2002, Prof. Xu made the special report on “in-vitro and in-situ tissue organ regeneration by potential regenerative cells” on the American “World Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Conference” as one of the 10 keynote speakers.

In 2003, Prof. Xu made series of special-topic reports on the induction of stem cells from somatic cells on stem cell international conference and world dermatology conference in Singapore and other countries.

In 2004, Burns Regenerative Medicine and Therapy, the English monograph on regenerative medicine authored by Prof. Xu, was published by Swiss KARGER Publishing House. The monograph released the atlas of induction of stem cells from somatic cells and finally into tissue organ and the detailed methods.

During 2005 and 2006, Prof. Xu was granted several U.S. patent rights on in-vitro culture of tissue cells into stem cells and finally into tissue organs, in-situ regeneration of tissue organ and relevant regenerative medicine.

In 2006, Prof. Xu released the result of human secondary life cells research on the national burns, wounds and ulcers conference. Academic reports of Chinese and English version were published in Chinese Burns, Wounds & Surface Ulcers Magazine (2nd issue in 2007).

On August 16, 2007, Prof. Xu released the research report on honoring the commitment of tissue organ clone and tumor cell line controlling and transformation in Chinese and English.

Certainly, the future research in life science requires global teamwork. Prof. Xu is welcoming all like-minded scientists and doctors to come together for noble cause. The life and health of human being would become better.
